Nail shape is one of the most important parts of a beautiful manicure.

Many clients choose a shape based only on a photo they like, but the perfect result depends on much more than a trend or personal preference. The natural nail plate, finger length, nail width, growth direction, desired length, lifestyle, and condition of the nails all need to be considered.

A properly selected shape can visually lengthen the fingers, make the hands look more elegant, balance a wide nail plate, and create a cleaner, more refined appearance. The wrong shape, however, can make the nails look wider, shorter, or less balanced. It can also affect the strength and durability of the manicure.

For example, square nails can look very stylish and modern, but they may not be the best choice for every nail plate. Sharp corners can be more likely to catch or break, especially for clients who use their hands a lot. Soft square is often a more comfortable and practical option.

Almond nails create a feminine and elegant look and can visually lengthen the fingers. However, almond requires the correct length, symmetry, and proper architecture. If the shape is filed too narrow or the structure is not balanced, the nails may become weak and break more easily.

Oval nails are soft, natural, and comfortable for everyday wear. They are a great option for shorter nails and clients who prefer a classic, delicate look.

A professional nail technician does not simply copy a shape from a photo. We evaluate the natural nails, discuss the client’s preferences, and create a shape that looks beautiful, feels comfortable, and remains strong until the next appointment.

The perfect nail shape should:

• complement your fingers and hands

• match your natural nail plate

• support the correct nail structure

• fit your lifestyle

• remain comfortable during everyday activities

• help the manicure look elegant and well-balanced

Sometimes a small adjustment in length, sidewalls, or the free edge can completely transform the appearance of the hands. Proper symmetry is also essential. Even the most beautiful color or design will not look perfect if the nail shape is uneven.

At Lazarkova Nails, we pay close attention to every detail. We help each client choose the most flattering and practical shape, while maintaining proper structure, strength, and comfort.

Because beautiful nails are not only about color and design. The foundation of a perfect manicure is the right shape and architecture.

Which nail shape do you prefer: square, soft square, almond, or oval?
